There are many ways to reduce the effects ofAcid Reflux..besides popping pills. One of the best things you can do is to eat smaller meals, and to eat them earlier in the afternoon. In other words, try not to eat a meal after 6 or 7 pm. That is hard for some people to do, especially if they stay up later..but it is very important. Another thing is to sleep with your head elevated. You can choose to sleep on 2 or 3 pillows, or you can devise a way to elevate the head of your bed. Either of these will suffice, and make a big difference. Gravity will always work. Another key thing, in the dietary department, is to avoid Alcohol consumption. This has a big impact, try it and see. Tobacco use has an effect as well. My son chews tobacco, & found that when he quit, his heartburn also went away.
